Overpriced, not even straight haircut for my one year old boy :( Was expecting to use my $10 referral credit that a friend told me a while back I would receive, but the receptionist could not find it in the system... Unfortunately will no longer be referring my Crozet playgroup mommas here.

Good as always.
It would be good to know ahead of the cut if the price has gone up, not just told what the bill is afterwards.

I had my first haircut at Face Value yesterday. Julia was my stylist. I have "problem hair" that i am very self-conscious about. Julia did an outstanding job cutting my hair so that it looks great AND she made me feel very good about how I look. Everyone at the salon was very friendly, welcoming, and relaxed. The whole place has an excellent vibe. I have been looking for a salon I could call home since I moved to the area a year ago. I am so happy I found Face Value!

LOVED the stylist and the receptionist. Stylist was very knowledgeable, kind, attentive, brilliant maybe -- very good at what she does. Receptionist was warm and friendly. Place was really nice, bright and open and pretty. I got a terrific haircut, and I genuinely respect and like the stylist who cut my hair. She is talented and just a lovely person. I will definitely return.
Well, for a place called "face value" I felt there were some things hidden and not really up front. For example, I went in specifically for a kind of cut for curly hair. There was no way of saying online, when I booked the appointment, that that was what I wanted, but I assumed that because that's what this stylist was known for, as was mentioned in her bio online, that that was the kind of cut I could get, at the price listed online. However, once there, I learned that that particular kind of cut required more time and cost more than twice as much as what was listed online as her price for a cut. I found that off-putting, to say the least. It makes a customer feel that there's been a bait and switch. You feel as if the salon got you in the door, and then pulled a fast one on you. It makes you not want to trust the salon. I feel you should very clear online about what services you offer and EXACTLY how much they cost. Now I will have spent money on one cut, and then I will need to go back in six weeks or so to get the cut I wanted in the first place. This gives you more business, obviously, but it leaves me feeling duped and uncertain about whether to recommend the salon (as opposed to the stylist) to others. Another example: while I was getting my hair washed, I was asked if I would like a protein conditioner for my dry hair, and I said, sure, and only after it was applied -- I am pretty sure, or just about to be applied -- did I learn it would cost $20 extra. The way it was done made me wonder if it was standard practice for the salon, to ask its stylists to try to push products on people when they are in vulnerable positions (I would have preferred being asked about the conditioner when I was first discussing my hair and the cut with the stylist, not while I was in the midst of a wash and condition. It's harder to say no then, which perhaps is what the salon is shooting for.) It would have been nice if I could have had the conditioner appropriate for my hair without it costing me an extra $20. That just feels cheap and petty on the part of the salon. I think you need to let people know upfront about the hidden costs of the salon. Next time I go, at least I'll know. But it would have been nice to have known at the outset.

Very talented stylist, a little $$ but worth it.
The front desk manager tries to control which stylist that you see ,at times.
